Expungement (Illinois) - Trying for a Response Again

I was convicted of 2 misdemenor charges of battery in 1987, and served 1 year probation. This was an isolated incident, and drug related (medical perscription). I recieved a pardon (not clemency). Now, 17 years later, I am about to recieve my Ph.D., I have contributed to the community, and served as an instructor at serveral colleges.
: I would like to get my record expunged. Any ideas on how? As far as I know, the case law (People v. Glisson) in Illinois does not allow expungement even after being granted an pardon. My pardon states that I was "acquited and restored to all rights of citizenship." However, with this on my record, it seems that I am being continually punished.
